"Young mid-mountain farmer in Belmont. His story: you could say that it's in Mickael's blood... he was already working the milking machine on his parents' farm when he was 4. He was about to spend 3 years training as a landscaper when the chance to take over the family farm arose in 2008. He threw himself into it... he was only 21 and it meant less time in strictly ""agricultural"" class! He may get up every morning at 5.30 for his Vosgienne cattle but that's not all. He also spends his days maintaining the standard of the landscapes by tending to open spaces. He is devoted to protecting the environment, developing methods in keeping with floral meadows, providing farm produce in short supply chains and, along with other farmers in the valley, revive the mid-mountain farming that we thought had disappeared. Fuelled by his passion for the land, he keeps the tradition of transhumance alive and takes his herd up the mountain in mid-June. Mickael on Mickael: ""The biodiversity you find in our meadows and fields goes onto your plate. Our products have flavour. Nobody disputes it anymore, farmers and consumers understand it and appreciate the difference."" The self-assured young man has made mid-mountain farming his calling!
