Documentary 'Jeunesses volées'

Mémorial de l'Alsace-Moselle - 67130 Schirmeck - Find

The film "Jeunesses volées", directed by Nina Barbier, co-produced by Day for Night, ECPAD and France Télévisions, will be shown at the Memorial, in collaboration with LE LIEU DOCUMENTAIRE,

Based on never-before-seen archive documents, this 52-minute documentary film tells the story of the 15,000 Alsatian and Moselle women who were officially recognized as "drafted into Germany during World War II" in 2008. A first documentary film directed in 1998 by Nina Barbier recounted the story of these women, "Les Malgré-elles", and had initiated the fight for their recognition. The film "Jeunesses volées" (Stolen Youths) revisits this period with a new and updated approach. Built around unpublished testimonies of survivors and experts, enriched by archives never shown before, the documentary offers a broad and contemporary vision by integrating the German side and by giving the floor to new generations. Many images used in the film come from ECPAD's archives and have never been shown before
