The Porte de Pierre is a strange and fascinating natural monument, a monolith of pink sandstone, located in the heart of the forest, in the Donon massif. Many hikers take the trouble to walk for a while, to bathe for a few moments in the beneficial energies of this place and savor a moment of contemplation.
Made up of three pillars topped by a lintel, the rock forms a double door 5 m high and 7 m wide. This geological curiosity at an altitude of 858 meters was sculpted by rain, wind and frost.
Two large menhirs (now lying down) and cup-shaped stones found around probably bear witness to the Celtic presence. Was it for them an entrance to the forbidden land?
